The 2009 US PGA National Championship will be 42nd event in the tournament’s history and will be held at the Twin Warriors Golf Club and at Santa Ana Golf Club from 28 June to 1 July. The first two rounds will be held at Santa Ana and the last two rounds will be held at Twin Warriors.

The PGA Professional National Championship is contested in late June every year. The tournament is a qualifier for the US PGA Championship which follows it in August, and the top 20 players from the PGA Professional National Championship go through to the greener grass, so to speak, of the PGA Championship.

The PGA National Championship is contested by golf club professionals who are members of the Professional GolfersÂ’ Association of America, and acts as a feeder tournament for the PGA Championship.

The 2008 event was held at the Great Waters and Reynolds Landing courses at the Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia. 2009 US PGA National Championship winner Scott Herbert from Michigan won the event with a score of 276 (-12) and took home $75,000 in prize money.

In 2007 the US PGA National Championship was won by the aptly named Chip Sullivan, who posted a tidy overall score of 282 at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon, to take top honors in the tournament.
